Overview:

River Cree Twin Rinks is part of the River Cree Resort Complex and is managed by River Cree Sports LP. The facility consists of two rinks, concession and Sports Store. A major part of our business is the River Cree Hockey League (RCHL) that runs in the Fall/Winter and the Spring/Summer.
 

River Cree Sports is looking for an independent contractor to provide the services of a Referee for the leagues.

Responsibilities:

The role of an on-ice referee consists of the officiating of games within the (Adult) River Cree Hockey Leagues (RCHL. Referees manage and operate a game on the ice via the following ways:
  • Rulebook knowledge and implement throughout the game.
  • Positive and proper communication to all players and staff before, during and after a game.
  • Professional towards your appearance and interactions with everyone.
  • Attendance- being on time for all games.
  • Provides customer service to the teams, as well as resolving conflicts.
  • Able to do problem solving as required.
  • Must complete games reports as set by management within allotted timeline.
  • Follow all recommendations as set by Director of Officiating or management.
  • To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers, guests and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace and on the ice during a game.
  • Other responsibilities that may arise relevant to the league(s).

Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience as a referee in organized minor, junior, senior, or adult rec leagues.
  • 21+ years and older
  • Hockey Canada Level 2- minimum
  • Knowledge of hockey rules
  • First Aid Training at the advanced level as asset
  • Must supply own referee equipment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong skating skills
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stop, squat and skate on a continuous basis.
  • Working environment is physically demanding so good physical health is an asset.

SERVICE HOURS

  • Monday to Friday – Evenings
  • Weekends – Day time and/or Evenings
